Purpose of Roho96.com
I first got the idea to make this site after trying to think of a new project to fill my exponential free time, and seeing an advert in the Reunions section of the Wichita Falls paper, the Times Record News, for Roho95.com. I tried to think up the shortest site name that would be easiest to remember and be the most specific to our class, and Anthony Patterson (admin for Roho95.com) didn't mind me using his idea, so I just opted for Roho96.com.
The purpose of the site is generally just to keep friendly tabs on everyone in the class. It's generally not specifically related to reunions, but works well as a vehicle for it, and I've been glad to help get the ball rolling on reunion plans. I primarily wanted just a free website for all graduates so they didn't have to pay some silly subscription charge to contact each other like Reunion.com and Classmates.com require to send/receive messages. While most everything on the site is done manually (that is, by emailing me to change something, me editing the item, and updating the site "by hand") as opposed to the quick automation of the subscription sites, I think "no fees" speaks a little louder.
I've opted for the most private messaging methods possible. If you opt for your contact information to be made public, that is completely your liberty. If you want to contact someone who doesn't have such info listed, I will send the info of the person wishing to MAKE contact to the individual to be contacted to see if they would let the person know such info. The only others to know non-public contact info are me, and the officers for reunion-informing purposes, and you have my strictest word that I will not otherwise share it unless you specify in email or writing.
The site itself costs about a few bucks per year to operate, of which is very easily covered out of pocket. There is absolutely no charge whatsoever to use the site, and there are no banner ads or corporate sponsorships going on (unless you want a company logo or ad of some kind on your bio page, to advertise your company). I am very open to suggestions, and I've got oodles of webspace (200mb, which is way plenty in w.w.w land for text and pictures) to use up. Thanks for stopping by!
